Das hier hat Chuck Westfall (Entwickler bei Canon) im Rob Gailbraith-Forum zum 85er geschrieben:

"Hi, Folks:

The EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM lens has exactly the same optics as the original EF version of this lens, and the manual focusing is still operated electronically. To reiterate, manual focusing is not mechanical on this lens. The key changes of the new lens are:

* 1.8x faster focusing speed (auto and manual)
* Improved lens coatings to further minimize flare
* Distance encoding built-in to support E-TTL II
* New diaphragm provides circular apertures down to approximately f/2.5

We expect the new lens to be available by the middle of March."

Ich glaube, optisch gab es an dem Objektiv ja auch nichts zu verbessern... kritisiert wurde es ja (nebst dem Preis) wegen dem langsamen AF. Insofern erscheint mir das logisch.

Wie kommst du denn da drauf, dass Chuck Westfall "Entwickler bei Canon" ist??

Bislang jedenfalls war er "Director of Media and Customer Relationship, Canon USA", also wenn du so willst der oberste Verkäufer oder Promotor von Canon in den USA, aber ganz sicher keiner, der sich mit der Produktentwicklung beschäftigt hat (die sitzt immer noch in Japan).

Hmmm, mir war so, als ob er das wäre. Naja, dann eben nicht. :-)
